What Is the Jumble Solver?
The Jumble Solver is a word jumble solver: it unscrambles words. Type the letters of a scrambled word in any order, and the solver shows the English words that use all of those letters, each letter once. You can use it to unjumble the words of the Jumble puzzle, the circled letters of its final answer, and other games where you unscramble letters.
The solver also lists shorter words that you can make from the same letters. They help when an answer has more than one word.
How to Use the Jumble Solver
- Type the letters of one scrambled word in the Scrambled letters field, for example
TLEPNA. The order of the letters does not matter. For the final answer, type the circled letters. - Press Solve or the Enter key.
- Read the words under Words that use all 6 letters. Common words come first.
- Open Shorter words to see the words that use only some of the letters.
- Click a word to copy it.
- Press Clear to start again, or click the field and type the next word. When you click the field, it selects the old letters, so what you type replaces them.
The field takes 3 to 15 letters from A to Z, and the solver removes spaces, digits, and
punctuation. You cannot use ? for an unknown letter, because a Jumble puzzle prints all of its
letters.
How the Jumble Puzzle Works
A Jumble puzzle usually has four scrambled words. In the newspaper version, two of them usually have five letters and two have six. You unscramble each word and write it in the squares below it.
Some of the squares are circled. When you have solved the four words, the letters in the circled squares give you a new set of letters. A cartoon and its caption are the clue to the final answer, and a row of blanks shows how many letters the answer has. The final answer is usually a pun, and it often has more than one word.
Solving the Final Answer
Type the circled letters in the field and press Solve. If one word uses all of the letters, it is at the top of the results.
If the final answer has more than one word, use the blanks. Say that the circled letters are DCOELIC and the blanks are for a 3-letter word and a 4-letter word. No single word uses all seven letters, so the solver opens Shorter words for you. Look in the 3-letter and 4-letter groups for two words that together use each letter one time. "Ice" and "cold" fit: together they use D, C, O, E, L, I, and the second C.
The solver does not make phrases, so you pick the words in Shorter words and put them together yourself.
When More Than One Word Fits
Some scrambles have more than one answer. TLEPNA gives both "planet" and "platen", and RDNAEG gives "danger", "garden", "gander", and "ranged". You see all the words that the solver finds, with the common words first.
Try the common word first. Each word puts different letters in the circled squares, so if the final answer does not work out, try another one.
About the Word List
Results are dictionary matches. A puzzle publisher may use a smaller word list and select one specific answer from the possible matches.
Does This Page Show Today's Answers?
No. The page does not show any puzzle or its answers. You type the letters yourself, and the solver finds the words that use them.
The solver is free and needs no sign-up. The page sends your letters to our server to find the words. Like all requests to our server, they can stay in our server logs for up to one week. The Privacy Policy gives the details.
