What Is the Word Finder?

Word Finder is an online tool that lets you filter words using a variety of criteria, including the letters they contain, word length, and letter position.

Simply enter your available letters and the desired word length to find all the words you can make in Words With Friends and other word games.

If you are playing a daily word game like Wordle, use the Wordle Solver tab to find five-letter words that match your clues.

How to Use Word Finder

• Word length: Set a word length to view words of a specific length, or leave it blank to group matches by length.
• Your letters: Enter the letters you have available. Add ? for a blank tile; you can use up to three.
• Starts with / Ends with / Contains: Match a sequence of letters at the beginning, at the end, or anywhere in the word.
• Must include letters / Must exclude letters: Require or exclude individual letters anywhere in the word. Repeating a letter in "Must include letters" requires that many copies.
• Pattern: Describe the entire word using placeholders. ? matches exactly one unknown letter, while * matches any number of letters. For example, s?a?e finds five-letter words with s, a, and e in fixed positions, while c*tion finds words that start with c and end with tion.

How to Use the Wordle Solver

• Word length: Set the word length first so the number of boxes matches your puzzle. It is set to five by default, as Wordle and many similar games use five-letter words.
• Known positions: Enter each correctly placed letter in its exact position. These correspond to green tiles in Wordle.
• Wrong positions: Enter a letter in the position where you know it does not belong. The solver will include that letter in the word but exclude it from that specific position. These correspond to yellow tiles.
• Letters not in the word: Enter letters that have been ruled out completely. These correspond to gray tiles.
